I've discovered once you get out of the rhythm of doing something it can be difficult to get back into it. Blogging for example...
I am finding this season of Advent to be a blessed and enriching time. The last few days have been pretty slow around the church and I've found time to think, read, and study without this disruption of the phone or other distractions. I think the rhythm of Advent calls us to think outside the normal everyday life we all so hurriedly lead, and allow ourselves to be immersed in the blessedness of God's presence with us. In church we're hearing a lot from the prophets about the restoration and wholeness God will bring to our lands and the season of Advent is all about preparing for the arrival of the promised one who will change everything. The prophets cry out for God to tear open the heavens and come down to bring deliverance. God responds by sending the spirit to Mary, to conceive a child, who will bring salvation to all. God answers the cry of the prophets with a baby. Our human story is brought into the fullness of God in this child. This all seems unlikely, why would God answer the cries of the people by sending a baby, how is that going to work? That has been my advent journey this year, finding the rhythm of God in unlikely and unexpected places.
