3/4 cup salsa
3/4 lb sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
3/4 lb monterey Jack Cheese, shredded
3TBL cornstarch
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 clove garlic cut in half
2 12oz bottle Mexican beer, such as Corona, at room temperature
3TBL tequila
veges, corn chips, or bread cubes
The directions say to strain the salsa but that sounded like way too much work for us, so it got skipped, that's right we used plain unstrained salsa. Toss the cheese and the cornstarch in a large bowl so it's coated. Then you're supposed to "rub the cuisinart fondue pot with cut garlic halves" yeah right, just chuck 'em in. Rub the fondue pot with garlic cloves....(said in low grumble)
Add 2 1/4 cups of the beer ( which may be two bottles? just to be sure just dump both of them in I guess) to the fondue pot--we used Alaskan Pale Ale. Turns out you can take the alasksan and the beer out of alaska, but not the other way around? hmm...Think on that.
When the beer begins to boil add the cheese gradually and whisk while it melts. When the cheese is melted add the tequila and Salsa.
All in all it was delicious and an impulse buy, that in my book, was worth it.
