A new avenue for adventure! After several months of research I finally purchased a Folbot Cooper. It is a folding kayak that has a frame made of shock corded aluminum poles that gets slipped into a big rubbery skin. It arrived this afternoon at about 1pm in a big box.
I unpacked the big black bag it came in and pulled out all the alien looking parts, wondering how this was all going to eventually float.
I started this construction project in my living room and soon realized that I didn't have enough room. Down to the basement. I got to step two on the instruction sheet and had to call in for help. When I called Folbot they answered right away and the person who answered transfered me to someone who could help me. Phil was able to answer my question right away and I figured out how to put together a rather nifty little joint in the bow. The owner of Folbot is named Phil, so it might have been the owner of Folbot himself who helped me with my question.
After about an hour of leisurely reading the directions and staring at parts I got the frame together!
And, I was only bleeding a little bit! Amazing so far!
Once you get ther frame together there is only one way to skin a folbot. Ha ha... sorry...
It is really pretty easy to get the frame inside the skin, and then there is a tension wheel that makes it nice and snug. It all went pretty slow the first time but I think I'll get much faster as time goes on.
There is one little problem, to get it out of my basement I have to take it apart again. It is sort of like the proverbial ship in a bottle at the moment.

I'm impressed, Mark! Not only by the kayak, but also by the fact that you were able to post some pictures! :) The kayak looks awesome! I hope your injury won't prevent you from attending Margarita night tomorrow! :) HA! Like ANYTHING could keep you from that! :)
