The Motherload

Here are a bunch of pictures--everything from our new house to our various Alaskan adventures.

To start let's look at the house. Here is a picture of our backyard/wetland project. We're going to keep some of that as natural wetland looking out onto the lake, and landscape some.

Here is our front door, the photo is sideways--the door is normal, I promise.

Here is the front of the house, it's 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms 2 car garage and huge front yard. Heather and I are very excited to move in!! You can be sure that will make it on my blog when we do.

This is our good friend Ethan and my beautiful wife Heather in the front yard (or where the front yard will go).

Heather and I went sailing with Ethan and his family on their new boat in British Columbia. Let me just say life could have been better but none of us were sure how, it was spectacular.

Here is a picture of Ethan and I in our new folbot folding kayaks. You might remember from previous posts, such as "it floats!" when I got this amazing feat of engineering. It really does paddle very nicely and our suspicions were confirmed they are perfect for a sailboat. You can store them in their bags on the boat or put themtogether (we did manage to put them together onboard) and keep them on the bow! I seriously could have sold a million of these things, at least three or four. If Phil from Folbot reads this blog ever you should think about a dealership out here in the Northwest. Or at least send me a free hat.

Ok, many of you know that Heather and I are vegetarians. And you may see this picture and wonder is that Mark in a slowly sinking dingy with a hatchet chopping a crab? If you have asked yourself this question--yep, that's me. We fell of the strict vegetarian diet for the sake of delicious fresh crab. Awesome.

Who could turn down a dinner that looks this good! Fresh crab and champanage!

This is the sailboat, a beautiful boat with plenty of room for 6!

Now we're in AK, this is Ethan and Shane on the Mendenhall Glacier--way to go guys.

This is the inside of a huge ice cave we found. I really couldn't believe the blue color in their, it was incredible. We were actually under the glacier. Crazy.

Here is a picture from my ordination service. It was a beautiful service, and I really appreciate all the help I had putting it together.

After my ordination service, Heather and I were off to camp. We spent almost a week at Rainbow Glacier Bible Camp in Haines, AK. Once a year the Lutheran Church in Alaska rents this camp and hosts youth from all over Southeast AK. I was one of the camp pastors and Heather was a cabin counselor for the 8th 9th grade girls. We both had a great time. I did my first communion as an ordained minister at camp. I though it was fitting for me to do my first communion in rubber boots and work pants. It was a beautiful experience.
