Chicken Tractor

So far this year I have been a terrible blogger. Life has been busy with work, and company, and some more work. Now in this season of Lent, I'm able to take a breath and catch up on some long neglected projects. I haven't been blogging recently but that's not to say life has not been adventurous. Every chance we get we are exploring this new community of North Bend and the greater Snoqualmie Valley.

We've been wanting to do this for a while, but being transient students, and then living in a neighborhood that prevented such activities, now finally it will work. We're getting chickens!

This is a picture of the newly assembled "chicken tractor" I was going to build my own but found this one on craigslist. It is brand new and came flat packed so we just had to put it together. The price was right and while I still live with a little guilt not building my own, this coop will be great. Since this picture was taken there have been some additions, or should I say improvements, to this tractor. Now it has wheels and looks MUCH faster. There are also handles on the front to make moving it around the yard a breeze. I think a racing stripe will finish it off perfectly.

I'm also planning on a water catchment system so it will be a self watering unit. But really it won't be an official chicken tractor until we get chickens...we have to wait until after Easter for that. They need a lot of maintenance before they are six weeks old. So we have to wait until I will be in town for six weeks in a row.
